Delete your DingVoice account

How to delete your DingVoice account and data from the Android app, the iPhone app, the web app, or by email to privacy@dingvoice.com, and what we keep afterwards.

Before you start

Deleting your account can't be undone. If you want to keep a copy of your records, download it first: in the web app, open Settings → Privacy and choose Download account data.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription you bought through Google Play or the App Store. The store keeps charging you until you cancel there:

  • Android: open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, and cancel DingVoice.
  • iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel DingVoice.
  • Web: if you pay on the web, cancel in Settings → Billing before you ask for deletion.

Delete from the Android app

Open DingVoice and sign in to the account you want to delete. Tap More, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. The app shows the account and companies it will delete. Tap Delete account to confirm, or Keep account to stop.

If you signed in with Apple, the app asks you to sign in with Apple once more. This lets us cancel DingVoice's access to your Apple ID. Closing that window cancels the deletion.

You are signed out at once and can't sign in with this account again.

Delete from the iPhone or iPad app

Open DingVoice and sign in to the account you want to delete. Tap More, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. Read the message and tap Delete account to confirm, or Keep account to stop.

If you signed in with Apple, iOS asks you to confirm with your Apple ID once more so we can cancel DingVoice's access to it. Closing that sheet cancels the deletion.

You are signed out at once and can't sign in with this account again.

Delete from the web app

Sign in at app.dingvoice.com. Open Settings, choose the Privacy tab, and under Deletion review choose Request account deletion review. The page then shows your open request and its due date.

Ask for deletion without the app

If you can't use the app or the web app, email privacy@dingvoice.com from the email address you sign in with. Put "Account deletion request" in the subject and include:

  • The email address you use to sign in to DingVoice
  • The name of each company in your DingVoice account
  • Whether other people also use those companies in DingVoice

What happens next and how long it takes

Requests from the apps, the web app and email all go into the same queue. Deletion is not instant: we first check that the request comes from the account holder and review it against tax, accounting, billing and security retention rules. Then an automated process erases your data across every DingVoice service, our file storage, and the providers listed below.

We aim to finish within 30 days. We always respond within the time the law sets, generally one month under GDPR. If a request is complex and we need longer, as the law allows, we tell you within that first month.

If other people also use a company in your account, we may need that company's owner to decide what happens to its records.

What we delete

When your request is carried out, we delete:

  • Your sign-in, profile, sessions and settings
  • Your customers' and vendors' contact details
  • Documents, uploaded files, receipt images and templates
  • Saved signatures
  • Imported bank statements and transactions
  • Notifications, device push tokens, and your address on our email provider's suppression lists
  • Your support conversations in our help desk
  • Your subscription record at RevenueCat, the service that links app store purchases to your account

What we keep, and why

Some records have to stay. We keep only what is needed, restrict it to that purpose, and do not use it for anything else.

  • Financial records: invoices, credit notes, payments, expenses, bills and the accounting ledger are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, with names, contact details and other personal details removed.
  • Payment records at payment providers: Stripe, Apple and Google keep their own records of payments you made or received, under their own rules and privacy notices. Deleting your DingVoice account does not delete those.
  • Backups: backup copies may still hold your data until their retention cycle ends. They stay protected and are not used for normal work.
  • Security logs and records needed for a legal claim or dispute are kept only as long as needed for that purpose.
